The W-plastic scar revision is the surgical technique by which a straight or curved antitension line(ATL) linear scar is changed into a zigzag pattern without tissue rotation. The scar is improved mainly by breasking up the bowstring effect of the long straight scar contracuture, by redirection the course of the malaigned scar and by unscarred tissue blending intothe W-shaped scar. Although this technique is noteasy, takes more operation time, and sacifices some normal skin to increase the tensile strength of skin, ATL linear scar in forechead, cheek and chin cna be treated effectively with it.
