Ksaps001-02-06.pdf Ksaps001-02-06.pdf
In East Asians, they have many anatomical characteristics different from Caucasians: thick skin, heavy subcutaneous tissue, relatively weak SMAS & platysman muscle. Besides Caucasians have lean and narrow face and so the dissected facial flap can be lifted easily superiorly and posteriorly, but East Asians have short and wide face and so the dissected facial flap cannot be lifted easily in a three dimensional direction superiorly and posteriorly.
 Recently facial rejuvenation have been improved very much by radical approach and variable combined adjuvant surgery.
 We Performed 25 cases of facial rejuvenation with following technical emphases;
1. Earlier skin resection before flap dissection protect skin incision margin.
2. Sufficient fat removal during flap dissection by facial liposuction.
3. SMAS plication and platysma sling.
4. Excision of orbicularis oculi muscle for the correction of crow's feet.
5. In the case of prominent malar and mandible angle, malar reduction and mandible contouring can make it easier to life the facial flap superiorly and posteriorly.
 Based on our experiences with these patients, we offer these personal techniques for facial rejuvenation of East Asians
