The shape and contour of the upper one-third of the face is provided basically by the frontal bone. A relatively thin soft tissue coverage, which consists of skin, frontalis muscle, readily shows subtle changes on the underlying frontal bone. A forehead with minimal supraorbital bossing and round curvature is preferred in Asian culture. The purpose of this study is to propose various techniques for contouring of forehead in Asia and to present our experiences. We performed various techniques for contouring of forehead on 15 patients from March 1996 to December 1999. There were three females and twelve males. Age range was 18-47 with a mean age of 27. 4 patients underwent dermofat graft, 2 patients underwent calvarial bone graft, 3 patients had insertion of methyl-methacrylate and 6 patients underwent bony shaving or osteotomy of frontal bone and supraorbital bar. The average follow-up was 9 months. The overall satisfaction with the procedure was high and revisions were not requested or required. There were no cases of fat necrosis, implant extrusion, or asymmetric contour. None of the patients experienced donor morbidity. We performed various surgical procedures for contouring of forehead and achieved overall satisfactory results.
