The nose is located in the center of midface and is so protrusive from cheek and forehead that it could be easily damaged by external force. Because of its protrusive shape and central location, even minimally deviated nose can break the balance of the whole face. So the nose is the most important structure in the face not only in the functional aspects but also in the cosmetic aspects.
This study included 58 cases of corrective rhinoplasty with or without adjunctive procedures. We analysed these cases in the view point of etiology, type of deformities, corrective procedures, adjunctive procedures and postoperative results. All patients were followed up for at least 2 months, with menan follow up of 29 months.
The etiology of the nasal deformity is almost invariably traumatic event especially traffic accident, and C-shape deviation was most commonly resulted, as in 21 cases(36%)
We approached the nasal skeleton through the intercartilaginous incision most commonly(95%). Among 58 cases, 15 cases included septoplasty, within them 7 cases of deviated septums were treated with swing door technique(47%). Of the 19 cases of tip plasties, conchal cartilage grafts were used most commonly, as in 8 cases(35%). When there was notable dorsal irregularity or unsatisfactory dorsal height after corrective rhinoplasty, dorsal augmentation were combined in 9 cases(14%) using septal cartilage(3 cases), dermofat graft(3 cases), silicone implant(2 cases) and conchal cartilage(1 case).
